Written in Meacham’s no-nonsense scholarly style, I enjoyed reading his take on the last words of Jesus Christ. This is a book to read every Good Friday or after. The idea is now planted in my mind and it will cause me to follow up and spend more time in contemplation of these words. He doesn't need to answer every single question that a believer or an unbeliever might have about faith in order to accomplish his supposed purpose. That is to say that this book really only works for you if you are a person of faith but even then you have to have a certain perspective. Meacham admits this, yet thanks to his wisdom and the help of many wise biblical scholars, he does a great job walking through Jesus' last words from the cross.I really liked Jon Meacham's past works.

I suspect that I will appreciate this book more when I revisit it in my readings.This was a good, quick read. And part of meHistory buffs are used to Jon Meacham’s writings about U.S. Presidents and politics.
