I do not recall experiencing anything quite like the rich and hyperbolic mayhem I have just encountered in THE MAD AND THE BAD. This is only the fourth Manchette novel translated into English; I hope the rest follow soon.Yeah sure, Mad and Bad displays the typical Manchette style, it's a matter of factly violent novel, an indictment of the spurious nature of the petite bourgeois lifestyle, but it's also a little too explicit in its critiques for my liking, reliant on characters that are almost caricature to help make his points about France in the 70s.
