outdoor voices tech sweat review

In 2018, Outdoor Voices launched TechSweat — a collection of lightweight workout gear that's cool to the touch and specially designed for hot, sweaty workouts. I couldn’t fathom working out or “doing things” in the stiff fabric.
They're very stretchy, but still supportive thanks to their high waistband; they're made of a thin-ish, but durable nylon blend that breaths better than other workout legging in my closet; and they're comfortable enough to wear when I'm not working out too. At first glance, the collection looks like any other Instagrammable pair designed by the company: high waists; flattering, intuitive seaming; and rich colors with names like Papaya and Baltic. OV leggings aren't cheap (they range from $75 to $95 a pair), so I had high expectation for the TechSweat leggings when they landed on my desk to test. It was a nice alternative to a traditional sports bra. After a couple wears and a washing, the fit relaxed while still providing plenty of support for my A cup and narrow shoulders.I loved the Y-back straps, which allowed the summer breeze to cool down my sunscreen-slathered shoulders. The two-toned blue color is really pretty, but also super flattering and although these are lighter colors, I haven't had any issues with sweat marks. It is comfortable, soft, and after those three workouts, I still have yet to wash it. The medium high rise provides decent support for the midsection. I felt supported while doing my HIIT workouts, having little to no movement in my upper body, and at no point did I have to readjust my tank for comfort. It did bunch a little at the bottom during activity but not to the extent that I thought it looked weird or made the tank uncomfortable. Our 34A, 30D, and 36C runners challenged the tank top’s built-in support. The first time I wore it the bra shelf was tight. PROS / Outdoor Voices Tech Sweat 3/4 Legging is made with sleek nylon blend fabric that is four-way stretch, moisture wicking and fast dry. Tech Sweat definitely has a different "hand feel," compared to other fabrics that Outdoor Voices carries. I am supremely picky about leggings. The rest of the top fit perfectly. The waistband is high and thick, so it stays secure over my hips, but it's not so stiff that I feel like I'm being squeezed in half, which is a huge pet peeve of mine with a lot of HIIT-specific leggings. Outdoor Voices Review: TechSweat™ 7/8 Flex Leggings I initially tried the “compression textured” fabric and was not a fan.

After my 30-minute HIIT workout, I looked in the mirror and noticed discolored sweat marks in three different areas. While the OV crop passed every test in my book—even converting me to the tight-fitting workout clothing team—I have to say it did fail that one test. It fit me like a sleeve. When I workout, I try to go hard which often means my sweat game is not cute. CONS / The legging is not very flattering on me. I haven’t slipped them back in since.

I'm always a little hesitant about such lightweight leggings as many lack support, but these are equal parts supportive and breathable — a winning combination for sweaty workouts.
