I love that I can pre set the temp because this is in the shower that my kids use. And, this plate is more substantial than the original (thicker gauge metal).

We do have hard water but I do not get the same spots on our other fixtures. After reading several reviews, I decided the smart move was to replace both pieces at once, rather than one at a time.
Bought these cartridges as spares to keep on hand to replace existing faucet cartridges when they start squeaking and getting hard to operate (seems to last about five years or so). This cartridge fixed the problem. Baining Hu Surrounds and locks valve handle to prevent accidental opening. "Fits Stanadyne!" I was worried when I bought it that I might have to return it, but it fits perfectly (I estimate my old part was original to the house in ~1990-1995).
